The first and last vacation I took overseas was in Thailand. It was pure luck that we decided to go there. My wife was in love with Thai fashion, so going to the motherland of this style of fashion was a dream come true for her. We were both so busy at the time, though. I was just getting this job here at v-English, and she was studying for some test at work, so there was almost no planning done for this trip. So needless to say, we were both a little nervous about going there with no hotel reservations, and a vague itinerary. All I knew was that I wasn`t leaving Thailand without riding some elephants.
When we got there, we decided to only take the clothes on our backs, because I needed a new hiking backpack, and we heard everything was cheaper in Thailand. Boy, Let me tell you! Thailand DID NOT disappoint!
I bought a huge ruck sack easily worth a 100 dollars for 50 dollars. I also bought a bunch of clothes for cheap. We went to the tourist center, and found a great hotel for super cheap: about 26 dollars a night for two people. After that, we booked an express van, and took it to go to Pattaya.
Pattaya has a reputation for being a singles den, so my wife and I weren’t too optimistic. We wanted to go to Phuket, but it was too far, and flying there would have been too expensive. But, Pattaya wasn’t that bad. There were a lot of fun activities, and I did get to ride an elephant. I didn’t get to see any Muay Thai kickboxing, but I saved that for the next time I go there. All in all, it was a great experience and I recommend going there to everyone.
