As many people may know San Francisco is located midway along the coast of California. Have you been there before? If not, then you should go because I think it’s one of the must see citiess in the world.

Personally, I love traveling and exploring the world and going on adventures. I love historical places and viewing the old structures. Also, I enjoy viewing the modern architecture. There are so many things to see and do in San Francisco and you will also you meet many pleasant people there.

I would love to share my experiences from when I traveled from LA to San Francisco by plane with my Australian friend in October 2012 whilst on my American tour. We were so excited about the trip. We took an early flight and flew north for about an hour.

We stayed in a hostel, which many young people would like to stay in when they are traveling, because you can make more friends and it’s more of reasonable price compared to most hotels. But, you have to keep your belongings safe. You could use the lockers in the room but I recommend that you keep your important belongings, such as passport and money with you all the time because not everyone is as trust worthy as you are.

From Day 1 to the end of the trip we enjoyed every minute there. Everywhere you go it’s as beautiful as a picture and as you have ever imagined it. You’ll never get tired of looking at the views and over 16 million tourists visit there every year to enjoy them.

Just so you know, there are many ways you can go around the town. On the first day, we went on a tour with a mini tour bus, and if I remember right, it was about 30$ or so. The bus will take you to a few famous attractions such as, Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf where the seafood restaurants are located, Union Square, Lombard Street and Ghirardelli chocolate factory, China Town, etc. You could get off the bus and take a few pictures like other people do. You can ride a bike and plan your own trip. This is more affordable but maybe more hassle. Because the streets are very rolling and steep, other options are to rent a car and drive around, or to do it on foot. You can of course take one of the famous trams (cable car) as well. For Alcatraz Island you will need to take a ferry, but unfortunately I didn’t have time to go there myself.

Union square is a good place for shopping and you will see many shops on the street and there is a big shopping center called Macy’s. During the Christmas seasons, the city will be packed and full of families and there is a nice festive Christmas atmosphere.

There are many night actives as well, like bars and restaurants and clubs in the city. But some streets could be dangerous in the night, so you don’t want to walk in the dark by yourself. I would recommend catching a cab when it’s getting late and cabs there are quite cheap.

Just outside of San Francisco is Napa Valley, of which is the famous wine area in California. If you are a wine person, then you can’t miss it. It is also a national park, and you’ll see the spectacular views.

If you are thinking to go on a holiday this year, then why don’t you go somewhere you can enjoy the food and views with your friends and family. I can promise you won’t regret it. I definitely had a wonderful and an unforgettable time there.
