Last Saturday, I had another great adventure in Southern California.  I was invited by a friend to go to a swap meet in Orange County.  A swap meet is a place where many people sell different items.  You can buy clothes, sunglasses, candies and even furniture.  I haven’t been to a swap meet in years, so I was happy to accept the offer.

Our journey began like most do in SoCal, with a traffic jam.  Since we don’t have trains, we have to drive everywhere.  This leads to bumper-to-bumper traffic every day.  In fact, traffic was so bad last week the newscaster called it, “Jamzilla”. They were joking that traffic was as bad as if Godzilla was coming to the freeways in the form of a traffic jam.  Finally, after what should have been a half-hour drive, we arrived at the swap meet after just over an hour.  Since our habit in L.A. is to avoid walking anywhere, we drove around for a bit to find a parking spot near the entrance.

Once inside, I saw that the wait was worth it.  There were so many bargains.  Jeans were just $10.  Cell phone covers were selling for $1.  I was in heaven.  The best part of the swap meet was when we went into the beer tent and saw a band that was playing music from the group U2.  We danced and sang along.  It was a great time and I hope to go back soon.
