Change is in the air. A lot of people are afraid of change, but I have been embracing it more. I’m also more open to it. I guess I’m still slightly afraid, but I’m becoming more relaxed about it. The past few weeks have been crazy busy and my life has once again been in flux, but things seem to be stabling out a little.
On April 1st, I was offered a new job. They needed me to start immediately, so I had to change my teaching schedule, find a place to live, pack up only the things I absolutely needed, and go. It was crazy. Thankfully I was staying at my mom’s place, so the things that didn’t get packed are ok. I’ll be back there in a few weeks to finish things up.
I started my new job, which was a bit weird. It wasn’t nearly as overwhelming as previous trainings have been. It was very confusing though. First, the girl who was training me was from the Jeff City office. Jeff City is actually Jefferson City, by the way. When she came in, she did some training, but was more concerned with how disorganized everything was. The person I replaced apparently wasn’t doing her job. Not only were a lot of things not completed, but most of what had been done, had been done incorrectly.
Normally, in this situation, I would have proceeded to train the new person and show them what to do step by step, but this didn’t happen. I was shown one thing, then we jumped to a different thing that had nothing to do with the first thing, and then went onto a new thing before we’d completed the first two. Needless to say, I had to rewrite my notes and it took me a lot of extra time to get all the tasks I have to do organized. Thankfully, I know what I’m doing better now. I’m not 100% confident, but do have a better idea of how the office runs and what I need to do and when.
As for finding a place, that actually wasn’t as hard as I had expected. I stayed with friends a couple of days and had a place a few days later. It seemed to flow smoothly. I’m still settling in and figuring out my roommates’ schedules and such. I think this is working out pretty well, with exception of the ants, of course.
So, things have been crazy. I need to get my new schedule down and start meditating again. Then I think things will really begin to flow smoothly. Who knows what change is lurking around the corner?
