Have you ever participated in a market research interview?
When I was visiting a local shopping mall, I was stopped by a lady who asked me if I had time to answer some questions about beer. She said it would take only five minutes. So, I said yes and started to answer her questions.
It turned out the survey took more than 20 minutes to complete. But I didn’t mind because they gave me free glasses of beer for tasting.
What is the longest amount of time you spent on the phone waiting to speak to someone?
The longest time I waited for was about half an hour. It was when I called my insurance company/investment broker/internet service provider. I needed to wait for 15 minutes until someone picked up my initial call.
Then the operator put me on hold again before identifying the right person I should be speaking to.
After the operator finally put me through to the right person, I had to wait for another 10 minutes before the right person answered my call.
Do you ever answer the customer service satisfaction questionnaires from hotels and restaurants?
Yes, I always fill out those questionnaires because I believe giving honest feedback helps them improve their serves, which will be eventually beneficial to me.
No, I have never answered those questionnaires. To be honest, I’m quite cynical about those things.
I don’t think they use those surveys to improve service at all. Instead, they are just pretending they care about customers. It’s just a gesture.
