【Holiday Tradition】*要点説明あり

(Contributed by Kelvin)
It is the beginning of October but I’m already thinking of Thanksgiving. This holiday in the United States is the highest travel day of the year when people travel to visit friends and family. Typically this holiday is the third Thursday of November and is a national holiday. Very often, that following Friday is also a holiday but considered one of the busiest shopping days of the year in preparation for the popular Christmas holiday in the United States.
Thanksgiving is often considered the start of the holiday season in the United States as this holiday is followed by Christmas and New Year’s and compasses what is considered the holiday season. It is a time of joyous celebration among friends and family with the sharing of gifts and communion with parties and family gatherings.
The holiday season is marked with a variety of decorations that represent the holidays. For example Christmas is marked with the colors of green and red with gold and silver that mark traditional flare of the holidays. New Year’s has gold and silver and black. Thanksgiving has the traditional harvest colors of orange and yellows.
Of course for the season there are seasonal foods that are very common in the United States. For example, the roasting of turkey as part of the special Thanksgiving meal is an important tradition. Families find their own ways to make annual traditions so that they remember the wonderful times of the past.
