Have you been to a Halloween party before?
Yes, I have been to a Halloween party. It was two years ago, when my daughter was invited to a nursery school/preschool Halloween party.
Last year, my friend and I dressed up as anime characters and went downtown Nagoya. We just wanted to do something fun. There were many other people in various costumes. It was a like a big outdoor party.
Do you believe in ghosts?
Yes, I believe in ghosts because there are so many people who say they have seen ghosts.
I definitely think ghosts exist. Why are there so many ghost stories if they don’t exist?
No I don’t believe in ghosts because there is no scientific evidence for their existence.
I don’t believe in the supernatural. I think all ghost sightings are illusions.
Have you ever seen kids celebrate Halloween in Japan before?
Of course, I have. My children celebrate it every year.
I have seen children dressed up for Halloween on television but I haven’t seen kids like that in my community.
No, I have never seen kids doing that. I think Halloween is still something foreign to Japanese people.
No, I haven’t, but I have seen some young adults wearing interesting costumes downtown.
If you were going to a Halloween party, what costume would you wear?
Here is what I would try to be if I were to go to a Halloween party – Ono no Komachi. I would love to put on the twelve layers of kimono gowns.
